What is polycystic ovary?
Polycystic ovary develops when the process of oocyte maturation breaks in the ovary. First of all, this affects the regularity of menstruation: long “delays” are typical. Menstruation has to wait a month, or even three, sometimes up to six months.
In the period of the formation of the function of the ovaries, a girl may not attach special importance to such delays. At the same time, indirect evidence of a malfunction and oily skin, acne, pimples, greasy hair. Then suddenly, for no apparent reason, weight can increase by 8-10 kg, on the face and body there is an extra “vegetation”.
Causes – most often stresses, mental trauma, experienced a few years before. To push the development of the disease can chronic inflammation of pharyngeal tonsils, acute respiratory viral infections. All this knocks down the nervous system from the right way, prevents it from properly isolating substances that control the work of the ovaries.
Sometimes, women experience some painful sensations, the stomach below seems to pull. There may be painful periods. But acute, severe pain, as a rule, does not occur.
How to identify?
With frequent violations of the menstrual cycle, you should consult a gynecologist-endocrinologist and take a survey. It is necessary to do ultrasound of the pelvic organs in different phases of the cycle. In case of polycystosis in the female body, the level of male sex hormones increases dramatically, several times, so it is necessary to examine daily urine on 17-CS or to conduct a blood test for testosterone.
Blood tests from a vein on hormones LG and FSG, “managing” by ovaries can be demanded. They are carried out in the first phase, then during ovulation and in the second phase. If the phases of the cycle are not expressed, the tests are taken with a break of 7-10 days.
Ovarian cyst: will it pass itself or should it be treated?
You can determine the failure itself, if measured in the morning, before ascending from bed, rectal temperature and draw up a schedule that reflects the process of maturation of the egg. If in the middle of the cycle the temperature does not rise to 37 ° C or higher, and the whole month keeps on the same level, you need to consult a doctor.
How to treat?
The patient is prescribed low-dose hormonal drugs with an antiandrogenic component. They actively reduce the level of male hormones. Reception for two months significantly improves the appearance of the skin. But to affect the ovaries, you need to drink the medicine for several months, while watching for the condition of all organs and systems. And then – to be examined again to check if the drug works.
If hormones do not help, it makes sense to perform a minor trauma surgery, during which the ovaries cut out triangular pieces. As a result, ovarian hormones are released and the ovum ripens.
Within 3-6 months after the operation, the monthly rhythm is restored. If a woman is set up for pregnancy, the next step is to stimulate ovulation – the process of releasing the egg. As a rule, pregnancy occurs within 6-12 months after treatment.
